Prayers will remain confidential.
Praying can be intimidating if it is new to you. A resource shared with me during an Alpha class I took at my church explained it with ease. If you are new to faith and have the ability to attend an Alpha course at a local church I highly recommend it. If you are in the LaCrosse area and would like to attend a class with me; please reach out and we can discuss further.
Alpha resource shared:
In life, any good relationship is built on spending time with each other. God is no different. If you want to develop a relationship with God, then you need to spend some time "talking" and "listening" to Him. As you begin talking with God remember to three things: Keep it Simple, Keep it Honest, and Keep it Up. Each day, find a quiet place away from distractions where you can be alone. Take a deep breath and relax. When you begin praying think of three areas: Thank you, Sorry, and Please.
Thank you: Thank God for loving you and thank Him for anything good in your life: family, friends, job, pet, health, etc.
Sorry: Ask God if there is anything you need to ask His forgiveness for. WAIT...and see if anything comes to mind. If it does, tell God you are sorry for it and Him to help you not do it in the future.
Please: Ask God for any personal needs you have. Also ask Him to help someone else with a need you know they have. An important thing to ask here is to ask God to help you grow in your relationship with Him.
You can google prayers, try to make it a perfect prayer, try to learn the right or wrong way to pray but guess what; GOD LOVES YOU and doesn't care about those things. He is just thankful and beaming with happiness that you chose to talk to Him. If the Thank you, sorry, please suggestions seem like too much I wanted to include a few other examples below.
*Lord, I feel like I need to have you more in my life. I feel confused about a lot of the things I have heard, learned, or listened to others say about you. Well, here I am. I'm not sure what to say, but I am here and that is all I know how to do right now. Amen
*Lord, I need you. Amen.
*Lord, I want to be close to you but I'm mad at you and blame you for the things that have gone wrong in my life. Why should I be praying to you? (wait and listen) Amen.
*Lord, I had so much fun watching TV tonight with my friends and family. Amen.
*Lord, I am stressed, worried, anxious, I need you. Amen.
*Lord, I am not worthy of your love, help me silence the thought's of the enemy so I can feel your love and see myself how you see me. Amen.
*Lord, I am here. Amen.
*Lord, I can't turn off my brain to focus on what you are trying to tell me. Please help me silence those things and have time with you. Amen
*Lord, I meant to pray the last few nights and I'm too tried and forgot. I am here now. Amen.
*Lord, I know you chose me to be his/her spouse/parent but I do not think I have what it takes. Help me. Amen.
I COULD GO ON AND ON WITH MORE EXAMPLES OF SOME OF MY PRAYERS BUT I HOPE THIS HELPS YOU GET STARTED. GOD WANTS TO BE IN YOUR LIFE even if it starts with only one short prayer a day. You can pray anywhere; hallway, car ride, waiting room, at work, auditorium, at home, with others, alone, in the shower, on a walk etc. It doesn't have to happen in a quiet space with your head down; He is with you always. Invite Him in.
